Ah, the freedom of speech! In case you haven't noticed yet, you can mention the competition here, without fear of being censored. Try to do that on one of our competitors' sites, and see what happens...

Since creatornicholas linked a slew of sites in his blog article, it seems only befitting that we respond to the points he made.

1. Building shares by yourself on social networking sites is slow, painful and unproductive. Luckily, you have a quick alternative: try a few of the gigs offered on fiverr.com - you'll be amazed by how far five bucks can stretch there.

2. If you're serious about blogging, you need to own your domain. Slaving away for countless hours to produce great content, just to see it mysteriously vanish one day, right about when it becomes popular, is not prudent. Once you have your own solid blog site set up, you can then cross-post your content elsewhere and advertise anything you like, without fear.

3. Don't bother your friends and burn up favors - again, five bucks go a long way...

4. Keep in mind that if your YouTube account gets banned, you lose ALL your videos. You may have encountered some of those dead video links yourself. So be really careful what you post there - Google, the site owner, shoots first and asks questions later.

5. slideshare.net is owned by LinkedIn Corporation. Most important for SEO is that you have a good count of LinkedIn shares. Once again, five bucks on fiverr.com can get you many friends.

6. Forum advertising is tricky. Most forums hate marketing and won't allow your commercial speech at all, so you will have to be subtle and cunning to get anything out of it. Generally, with a few exceptions including this very forum, it's not worth your time and effort, unless you hire some pro from seoclerks.com who knows all the tricks to post on forums for you.

7. An impressive list at first, until you actually try some of those classifieds links. Try posting on buysell-browse.com too, and compare. You'll be surprised how many more valuable features we offer outright, for free and with no fuss. Have you tried posting a clickable link on Craigslist lately? You can't. How about reaching a global audience with one ad without being tied to a locality? You can't. Can you leave a comment or ask a question in the posted ad's thread? You can't. Can you PM or chat live online with a buyer or seller? You can't. Did they make you "verify" your local phone numbers and get multiple IPs in various geographical areas for greater coverage? Let's say you do all that, only to see your posts "ghosted" by zealots or competitors. Here's the beef: most of those "free" classifieds sites try to monetize by squeezing the advertisers, so only the big boys with premium accounts who pay can truly play. Not to mention that there may be deals going on behind closed doors which regular users cannot partake.

8. You can write any kind of articles that fit into your niche and tie into your specialty links, then publish them first on your site, syndicate the content and cross-post wherever it benefits you. Do not limit yourself to article directories - if you have good content, you can spread that everywhere.

9. You can comment and link from anywhere it benefits you. Blog links are nothing special - any quality site that allows them will do fine for backlinks. A link is a link.

The bottom line is that, whatever his actual intent, creatornicholas thought it was important to publish a list of competitors here, and that's good enough for us. We're getting noticed...
